You’ve probably heard this before.
Maybe even said it yourself once, twice, or many times.
I’m the type of person who…
doesn’t ask for help,
can’t slow down,
hates confrontation,
doesn’t trust easily,
can’t be alone.
I’m a worry wart.
I’m a people-pleaser.
It’s just that I…
don’t want to rock the boat,
always need a project,
care about what other people think,
hate to be an inconvenience.
Why would we choose to build a box around our own existence? To establish boundaries that we can’t escape and rules that prevent growth?
What if these so called “personality traits” were simply protective mechanisms from long-standing hurts or grievances?
We use them as an excuse so that we don’t have to try out new ways of being. Because that would be less comfortable. Less safe.
But perhaps it’s time for reinvention.
I am human.
I am flexible, moldable, growable.
I have no defined story arch, no etched in traits.
I throw curve balls
I divert, digress.
I challenge,
I change.
If anything, I’m the type of person who…
will surprise you.
