About Me
I have built my career at the intersection of life design and the outdoors. I started my professional life at an energy efficiency-focused tech startup in Seattle. After a few years in the nine-to-five world, I took to the road for a year-long trip, rock climbing around the globe and pushing myself on adventures like thru-hiking the John Muir Trail. Along the way, I graduated from IPEC's Life Coach Certification Program and took to the entrepreneurial world, starting my own coaching business. Since starting Sanni McCandless Coaching, I have won awards such as Fresh Chalk's Best Seattle Life Coaches, been featured in over 30 podcasts and articles, including the Tony Robbins Podcast, and worked with brands such as Lululemon, Free People, and Nature Valley. I was also a subject alongside my husband, Alex Honnold, in the Oscar-winning documentary, Free Solo. Outside of my one-on-one coaching, I am a writer, currently working on a book about my approach to life design. I am also the co-founder of an outdoor-based retreat series called Outwild. Outwild hosts three-day experiences where participants learn how to reprioritize their values and push their comfort zone in the outdoors. When I’m not living in my van, I’m in Las Vegas, Nevada, with my husband and two children, enjoying year-round rock climbing and endless desert views.
Hi. I’m Sanni.
I’m a life and transition coach with a deep love of the outdoors. My coaching practice has a strong emphasis on value‑alignment, mindset, and communication. I created my own approach to coaching specifically for folks who want to make a leap in life but aren’t sure where they want to land. My practice helps clients design their lives in short, intentional eras where they can follow their curiosities, focus on a few core values at a time, and make peace with the unique challenges and responsibilities that come with each chapter. This approach is especially powerful for people stuck in analysis paralysis, weighed down by the idea that whatever they choose next has to last forever.
In my sessions, clients are led through a process of internal and external exploration, allowing them to overcome the limiting beliefs and unhelpful habits that may be keeping them stuck. Together, we build a path forward based on genuine desire rather than external pressure. That journey might include era‑mapping, value setting, habit reforming, or mindset shifts. I challenge my clients to communicate more honestly, think like a strategist, and pursue goals that have been on the back burner for too long. Coaching with me isn’t about getting advice from an “expert,” it’s about creating a clear picture of where you’re going and having someone beside you to tackle whatever is getting in the way. I’ll plan with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable as you step into your next era.
